One of the reason’s I shop at Trader Joe’s is paying fair prices for quality food products and I have another. Inexpensive wrapping paper!
As most supermarket chains don’t carry paper bags anymore I found reason to utilize these paper bags to wrap gifts this Holiday Season. My personal experience as a kid growing up in the 70’s can also attest for the excellent protection they offer to cover school books and you can’t beat the price. If you don’t shop at Trader Joe’s see if your local supermarket still uses paper bags and have a Green Christmas.
What a great idea! We use the same paper gift bags and just switch out the tags each year š
Another Great Holiday money saver.
How cool is that, I wish we used paper bags here in Norway, it would make for cool wrapping paper. Unfortunately is plastic all the way when you shop over here š³ Unless you bring your reusable shopping bag that is š
I find many uses for the plastic one’s too. Liners for the bathroom trash cans and toting things to friends and family on the holidays.
I do the same, but I try to avoid plastic as much as possible (which is really impossible to do in today’s society š) and I bring my own reusable bags pretty much every time I go shopping.
I used to do the same especially at the Farmers Markets until I read about the bacteria that can build up in them. Being too lazy to disinfect them each time I decided to give in to the little plastic bags.
Ouch, haven’t thought about that… hmmm… gotta think about that one…. guess I can always get a reusable on I can throw in the washing machine?
Yes, they do make them.
Love this, recycle, repurpose, reuse! In poorer times I have used plain brown grocery bags and rubber stamped Christmas trees to create my own “wrapping’ paper. Now we mostly use gift bags that we reuse, including the tags. Just collect them up every year after the gift opening.
Awesome!
Three buck chucks!
LOL. Inflation even effect two Chuck.
Oh, I remember those book covers as well. Over the years, I perfected the art of cutting and folding paper bags to match the size of the books. Do schools still require that books be covered? Do they even use books anymore, or is it all digital now?
Ha. You’re right Gail – do they even have text books anymore? š
Yea, not that I have anything against digital. I love my Kindle!
They are still using books as I remember the controversy over being forced to purchase new books each year now due to certain contracts with the board of educations.
Love, love, love! Good one.
Don’t forget your cereal boxes as well – hope you don’t mind if I share a link Billy – it’s relevant to your post: https://devisecreateconcoct.com/2016/11/21/frugal-holiday-gift-wrap-upcycled-cereal-boxes/
I don’t mind, I actually reblogged it for all my readers to see. š
Lol. Thanks Billy. I’ve been trying to figure out how to reblog your post, but do you think I can figure it out? Too much egg nog perhaps. I managed to link to your post in the comments of my post. I will have to look in the WordPress help section to figure it out. Lol. Will keep trying. Have a great day! š
There should be a button somewhere near the “like” button that says “reblog post”. That’s how I reblogged yours. š
Got it!!! Hooray! We are saving the world one cereal box and Paper bag at a time. š
Woo Hoo!
We used to use paper bags to cover our school books too.
