Diabesity Challenge Day #71 – Sick Day

kTM59E8TjI started getting that feeling in my throat yesterday where I felt a little discomfort. This morning I woke up with a sore throat and the sniffles. Hey, I know it’s not the end of the world, but knowing my body the way I do I know that if I push forth with my exercise routine I will use stored energy needed to fight off something before it gets out of control.

As I am not a robot I am susceptible to stupid viruses and germs and have to do the human thing. Some chicken soup and rest mixed with plenty of fluids is a good start. I made the decision to go to work today and if things get worse I can simply come home.

My immune system is well aware of what is going on inside my body and has already started attacking foreign invaders. The worst thing I can do is get in the way by confusing things with a hard workout. I may even end up taking the rest of the week off.

The one good thing about getting sick is that it makes you very humble. How quickly we realize that even when we feel like superhero’s, we still are accountable to the laws of nature.

  1. I too am having the throat thing…no sniffles yet, but I’m thinking they’ll show up soon enough. Sigh. I hate being sidelined by a cold especially when it’s taken me so long to get into something resembling a routine. I’ve got three workouts on the schedule for this week; one today, Thursday, then Saturday. I’m going to work through today’s routine, then see how I’m feeling come Thursday. (fuss, grumble…stupid summer cold, lol) Hope you get to feeling better soon :-).

    • I am sure that I will get better soon. I am working out at such a high level of intensity and don’t know how to turn it off so it’s better that I simply stay away until I feel better. I hope you feel better soon too. 🙂

  2. I’m the world’s worst patient. Hope you feel better soon. G-uno
