Diabesity Challenge Day #63 – Feeling the Effects of Lifting

AR-308259924.jpg&maxw=400&q=90I’m gaining weight but looking thin. After two days of rest this Monday I am feeling much stronger than last. I have my straight bench press up to a comfortable 350 lbs. and I can actually see the progress I am making in the mirror. The scale is telling me that my body weight is increasing, but my belt is telling me that I am getting thinner.

It’s starting to become very clear to me that body building is the answer to the age old question – “What is the fountain of youth?” I know it takes time and dedication, but I thoroughly believe that with continued efforts I will soon see the results of a blood test to come close to matching my 30 year old self. Because I am eating much better than my 30 year old self they may even be better.

About SimpleLivingOver50

At 53 years old I am starting to realize how life changes both physically and emotionally. I strive for a life of simplicity. I am winning the battle with type II diabetes, created a plan to have all debt paid off in 4 years including the house, taking advantage of every opportunity to live life to it's fullest through adventures in nature, hiking, biking, loving and learning.

I like the idea that weight training could be the fountain of youth! Great numbers – 350 lb bench is very impressive.

  2. Can’t wait to start SEEING the physical changes. I’m a month into my program so nothing to show for it yet other than feeling good about FINALLY being on the healthier living track. Next up, I move households – during that process I’m purging to reduce clutter. Heading toward my version of minimalist living.

  3. Great job! I hope to start this in the next few months too.

Good stuff. Perhaps include some deadlift or squats?
I find that they’re great exercises for getting into shape.
