I have been writing a lot of posts lately about my own health and my challenges with Type II Diabetes. I tag these posts with “minimalism and simple living” tags. The reason I do this is that I feel one of the important aspects of living a simple life is staying healthy.
Simple Living is all about creating the time and money to enjoy life. It’s about getting off the roller coaster of life that keeps us staring at the clock while trying to get things done. We spend less time shopping and reduce the amount of things we own to feel the freedom of the world around us. We love a good adventure and treasure a simple day at the beach or a hike through the woods. We are frugal and find ways of cutting costs to increase funds rather than working more hours. We don’t want to look into the future and say “One day I will be able to do that”, no we want to do it now. We love the things we own and get the most out of them without thinking about the next best thing. We hate debt and try to pay it off as quickly as possible. We love nature, time spent with family and friends and find great joy in all the simple things that life has to offer. Sometimes lying around and reading a good book is just the therapy that our internal doctor ordered yet it is the external doctor we fear.
Each one of us is responsible for our own well being and good health. It is important to us that we maintain that freedom to enjoy life without the interference of being sick. We understand that there are small things we must do each day that gives us the advantage of maintaining our own health. We get a little exercise and a little sunshine each day. We try to eat as closely to nature as we can and not overdue it. We know when enough is enough. We practice mindfulness as we avoid feeling stress and sleep well at night. We feed our minds with the interests of our souls. For us it’s not about finding the time to do these things as these things are the very nature of living a simple life and just come naturally and are a part of us.
So yes, even though my posts are about diet and exercise they are also an intricate part of my current lifestyle of Simple Living.
That is such a simple yet powerful life philosophy. Very well put! Real good health is fundamentally tied to being sorted about life in the manner you have spelt out so no surprise that truly meaningful posts on health are willy nilly about how to value & live life in general. And that is why I love reading yours😄
Thank You. 🙂 It’s more about a positive lifestyle than just losing weight. Healthy is Happy.
Totally. Couldn’t agree more!
I definitely agree. Too many people trying to lose weight, get rich, get a promotion, buy something, to enjoy life. Just get on with it now and enjoy it while you can. Eat in moderation and keep active. Take joy in the simple things x
😄
Bravo, Bill! Isn’t that what it’s all about? Great post.
