Tax Seasonal Disorder

With TAX Season quickly moving towards it’s mid April deadline along with it comes an increased sense of stress. This whole process disturbs me even though I never seem to have any problems paying my taxes.

Waiting on W-2’s and gathering all receipts for things like donations and job related expenses is a process that makes me a little crazy. I am one of those people that believe in a flat tax where it doesn’t as matter much how much money you earn as it does that 10% was collected for taxes. Done and over with. No tax shelters, no write off’s. What ever I decide to put away for retirement is my decision and my decision alone and something like paying taxes should never have to come into account. If the wealthy want to put more money into their investments so be it as long as 10% has been collected from the earning before. If one day they decide to collect money on their earnings in those investments so be it. No complicated forms to fill out, no commercials on TV screaming “It’s TAX return season”. Does this not make sense to anyone else?

If you are lucky enough to be an American Citizen it is your responsibility to contribute towards the protection of this country. I don’t care if you earn just five thousand dollars per year or five hundred thousand dollars per year. Either way 10% goes a long way.

For business owners nothing would change other than paying that 10% in your quarterly payments. If those who have been elected to manage these things cannot close a budget based on this 10% tax then they will have to make adjustments.

When people have more money they tend to do the right things like helping out the poor and donating to important causes. On a National level I believe that less money should be paid in taxes anyway and more should be paid to the States. It would appear that Washington DC has become an empire that rules over the masses through tactics of fear. What tax payer do you know that doesn’t think about having their property confiscated if they were to make a mistake on their taxes. This fear would be totally eliminated with a flat tax.

There has grown a whole mega industry that is based solely on taxes. This is insane. From tax accountants to tax preparation services and I can’t leave out the thousands of federal workers who draw a paycheck from the tax process. The bookstores are loaded with megabucks each year teaching the process of filling out tax forms and software companies produce products that help ease you through the process.

The system is already in place as money is taken out of my paycheck each pay period by my employer and sent to the treasury. Take my 10% and leave me alone. Spend the money wisely with only the welfare of the American Citizen in mind. Allow industry to thrive without the burdens of worries of tax issues so they can produce jobs that will allow all of us to thrive in.

One of the greatest fears in life is that of the unknown. There is never any reason for any of us to “not know” what we should be paying in taxes. Will I get a return or have to write out a check. Will I have enough set aside to pay my taxes if it should come to that. By simply paying your tax without the fear of trying to maneuver through tax season makes for a less stressful life.
