Just another Random Thought Tuesday

random-thoughts-logo-sq-turq1A quick follow up to yesterdays post with my dilemma with transmission problems on my Hyundai Elantra gives a breath of fresh air after visiting my local Hyundai Service Center. It seems that even though we are “out of the warranty period”, we still qualify for warranty coverage if the transmission is bad because we are the original owners of the vehicle. I will be bringing it in for diagnostics tomorrow.

Sometimes in life when thinking the worst case scenario things can change in an instant in the positive direction. I could have opted to trade this vehicle in and purchase a new one and taking on many years of car payments. I am glad that I made the decision to speak with someone about it. I take this as a $ 5000.00 gift and will celebrate it as such.

The year is slowly melting away and before you know it we will right down the number 2016 on many of our documents. It’s seems so natural to think about moving into a new year, but how strange it is when we thing about how we imagined the year 2016 twenty years ago. It’s the same as what we think about the year 2036 right now.

Time does go by so quickly and many of tough challenges we have had to face over the years seem so small now. There are times where I thought I could never get past a certain situation but in fact with help of time gotten past it and ended up in a good position.

Problems we face now I simply put my best foot forward and give it all I have with baby steps to either find an answer or just let time wash it away. I know that even in tough times as long as I find a hint of happiness in each day I can look back and say that times were good.

All you can do, is all you can do. I focus on the positive and avoid the negative and life seems a little brighter and we find ways of laughing over things.

Although life is pretty good right now there is so much I regret, yet have no power over. The one thing that comes to mind is that the family is spread out all over the country and I wish sometimes that family life could go back to where it was in the past where a large majority of a family still lived in the same town and get togethers were not something that you had to purchase an airline ticket for. But on the other hand new technology has given us the opportunity to stay in constant contact with our loved one’s, but is still not the same as being there.

Another thing I regret is the lack of wholesomeness on TV these days. I miss the days where a sitcom was something we looked forward to watching at 8:00 PM rather than channel surfing through a myriad of infomercials or the doomsday news. Many of the sitcoms actually mirrored the actual life of a typical family and helped to provide answers to the feeling we sometimes feel inside. Again, this is something I have no control over.

The fact of the matter is that there is not much in this world that I actually do have control over other than myself and how I choose to react to the world around me. It can be a sick and perverse world only if we recognize it as so. But there is so much more out there that is good and wholesome if we only make the choice to seek it. No matter where any of us are in life it has be certainly better than the lives people had to endure in the Dark Ages or other times in history. How is it that so many are sad today?

  1. I enjoy reading your blog. It speaks to the normal way of living and life itself. Sometimes, I resort to watching cartoons and sometimes these shows are violent. I have decided to watch cartoons also for the sake of my mother who is 84 years old. She cannot take the violence which is also seen in the news.

    Good post…..happy about your car….that was a nice gift…..have a warm Tuesday…kat

  3. Good news on the transmission.
I did want to say that I think Kia and Hyundai have a 7 year/100k mile warranty for the original owners but felt it would be bad form if you weren’t covered!
I agree about the TV. I hardly ever turn not on now chasing just to watch stuff I download or record over the weeks and catch up with. The scheduling is always appalling and means I don’t turn on. This in turn means I can go for days without hearing what is going on in the world which to be honest is a good thing because I can do nothing about it except worry for others and that doesn’t help.

So glad to hear that your car was still under warranty and is able to be fixed!! That is an amazing gift 🙂
It’s funny that you talk about the violence and other stuff on tv now…my husband and I were talking about the same thing the other day. Me growing up here we only had like 3 or 4 channels that we could get because that was all there was…lol!! For him because he grew up over seas they had 2 or 3 that were government and the majority of people didn’t even watch those. Now we have all of these useless channels or channels that have shows that honestly have no common sense what so ever. I think we as a whole, I think were a lot better off then, then we are now. I mostly (like Patrice) watch cartoons or shows on Discovery and the History channel. On the whole, most of the time, I don’t pay attention to what is on the “idiot box” any more

  5. Glad your car will be able to be fixed under warranty.
