02-26-25 – Thursday – Drunk in the Garden

Drunk-Gnomes
Oh, when am I going to learn? I have been doing pretty good most of the week as far as avoiding beer, except for last night. Yea, it flowed like water. I sucked down 5 whole brewskies before it was all said and done. I did work very hard in the garden by adding organic soil and compost and then turning over each garden bed to blend it all together. When I finished my head was just about spinning and suddenly I realized, “I am drunk in the Garden”. This was not good. I drank as much water as I possibly could to try to sober up and avoid a hangover and just fell fast asleep.

The only good thing about this episode is the fact that the gardens are done and ready for planting. The bad thing is that once again I put additional sugar into my blood stream and hopefully my pancreas was able to create enough insulin to process it all. Based on my glucose test this morning is looks like it all worked out, but I believe that the additional hard work on my muscles had more to do with keeping things in balance.

Without the beer this would have been a good day with a touch workout in the morning and additional hard work later in the day. I may take away a lesson from this day after all. Maybe I can schedule in a mini workout each evening. Nothing major, maybe just one set of a particular exercise or maybe a 30 minute walk. I think that the benefits might be incredible.

Gardening? I can’t even imagine that in February. We are under 3′ of snow and -20 to -30 or colder each night.

No beer in the house to temp? Maybe going out to have a beer is more of a deterient from having 5?
I don’t drink so I’m not much help. Never would of thought there was sugar in beer. Interesting. It tastes so gross anyways. Maybe I had one with not enough sugar hahah!

    Keep up the hard work.

    • Yea, the Oregon microbrews are just incredible. All alcohol is sugar. Ahhh. It has been pretty moderate here in Oregon so I was able to get a head start on the raised bed gardens. A lot different than living in New Jersey where I moved from. Brrrrr.

Ditto Sandy – if I were to fall asleep in the garden, I’d die of exposure!

Mini-workouts seem like a great plan.

Ah the curse of the pint. I have succumbed to that one myself. I am heading out for a run this morning, writing, market, a cross training session and some coaching calls so I need to keep my head clear until sunset. Have a great day in Oregon.

After being a good boy for weeks I too succumbed to wine – damn calories the body didn’t need! The only positive to take out of that is that I am even more determined to avoid the stuff!
