02-23-15 – Tuesday – Muscle Growth and T2D

active-vs-inactive-muscle-picture
I have noticed recently that my shirts are fitting much tighter up top and much looser around the belly. This is yet another marker that shows the results of staying dedicated to the workouts. My muscles are getting larger and will continue to grow even faster. This is because the more muscle fiber I have to rip and tear and repair, the more that muscle will grow. This is awesome because it also creates a larger demand for energy which clears the blood of sugar at a higher rate and pulls more energy from fat stores. Thus reducing blood sugar and burning fat.

This whole process is yet another reason why you can never depend on the scale to show your progress. I know that the progress is slow as are all things controlled by the natural world, but with dedication to just one day at a time will lead the advanced results. I am coming up on a year now since I started doing resistance exercises and in the beginning I was mixing it up with too much cardio, while still eating too many carbohydrates. My diet wasn’t adjusted to a Paleo way of eating. If I knew what I know now I would have limited the cardio to just 30 minutes per day at maybe three days per week, while strength training at least five days per week. Another mistake I made was not including strength training exercises for my legs. It really makes a big difference as the leg muscles are already larger and there is more opportunity to burn stored body fat.

So the bottom line is that I am feeling pretty good about my progress and as I move forward through dedication and continued learning during this mission I expect the results to get even better. I am on the road to recovery and it really is an incredible journey.
