12-28-14 – Sunday – Paleo Solution over Bulletproof

Blood Sugar – 111, Weight – 172.2

Treadmill – Distance- 2.70, Time- 40:07, Calories- 313.5

Shoulder Press – 100/100- 17
Front Raises – 30/30- 14
Side Raises – 30/30- 15
Shrugs – 100/100- 15
Situps – 100/100- 15

So I changed up my routine starting today. I have elected to do both cardio and resistance each day. As you can see I have elected to just do one set of each exercise on the bowflex. I have made these changes because when I lift too hard I experience pain in both my right shoulder and left bicep. I also know the importance of walking (not running) each day. Spending less time on the bowflex allows for time to get at least a 30 minute walk in each day.

I am still having problems getting my blood sugar down under 100 where it belongs and I will continue to work with the Paleo diet and refine and readjust it until I get the right results. I have to be mindful of several things in this process. Eat lots of fresh organic vegetables, Carbs convert into sugar in the body, too much protein converts into sugar in the body, drink lots of water, sleep well, meditate and avoid stress.

What I am reading

I was reading the book, “Bulletproof Diet”, by Dave Asprey and made it about 34% completion on my kindle when I decided to put it down and stop reading it. Although the book was loaded with good information and Dave Asprey is one of my favorite podcasters, the book just became too overwhelming for me. Dave created a line of products that assist in biohacking the body and mind to become all you can be. These products that he developed are expensive and being that I am on a limited budget they just don’t fit into my monthly expense list.

My own personal belief’s dictate that the food that I place in my body should be coming from all natural sources like grass fed beef and fresh garden vegetables and free range eggs and so on. Dave’s plan may be a good solution for a younger man who wants to stay on top of his game, but it doesn’t fit into a fifty something’s lifestyle.

I just started reading “The Paleo Solution” by Robb Wolf. I will reach out to you and let you know what I think about it. So far Robb’s beliefs are more in line with my own.
