I made it through Thanksgiving and woke this morning to a good glucose reading. I did eat things that I haven’t eaten in months like apple pie and ice cream. But most of the food I ate was farm fresh vegetables and turkey, but I did over eat them. By the end of the night my stomach was a total mess and I really do not want to experience that feeling again any time soon. But it was well worth spending the time with good friends and family.
They call today, “Black Friday”. It is the day that most retailers get out of the red and start yielding their profits for the year and the pressure is certainly on. Everywhere you turn you can’t miss some type of ad for Black Friday. I am so happy that we have no ties to this game as we do most of our holiday shopping during the year as we travel about and stop in certain specialty shops. For those we love that we didn’t find just the right gift we like to give a gift card so they can enjoy purchasing that item that they really need or desire. This is the gift that I appreciate myself being that I don’t really like stuff. But with a gift card I can use it to purchase something I really need like a new shirt or pair of shoes.
I would really love a Holiday Season without gifts. A Holiday Season filled with love, food, family and friends simply sharing time together. This is so difficult to do though as each one of us has our own meaning of what Christmas is. It is so hard to accept a gift when you have no gift to offer. Even when you try to put a limit on the cost of gifts for each other there are always those who go beyond.
