11-01-14 – Saturday – Paleo is becoming the Norm

So yesterday I decided to voluntarily come out of ketosis for a day. I ate some crap I don’t normally eat, and I have to honest here, I feel like shit this morning. It is good to change things up now and again, but the bottom line is that sugar is sugar. Whether it is coming in directly as sugar, or carbs that are later being converted to sugar. I am finding that once Peleo becomes the norm, anything else is really crap.

It’s really easy to pick up a cookie or a piece of cake and put it in your mouth, these foods were designed to delight the senses. What should be easier is to look at these foods and know that this is not what your body and health deserve. You are better than a simple pleasure of a sweet taste. I don’t want to put that fucking garbage in my body anymore.

As I walk through the supermarkets I look at these products and think about the aggressive advertising campaigns behind them with thoughts of distain. This candy, potato chips and shelves of processed crap. I was thinking to myself that if the supermarket was to remove all processed foods from there shelves there wouldn’t be much left. They could run their whole business out of a little store front the way they did years ago on the streets of our growing cities. What the fuck happened? How did it get to this point?

  1. I agree it really has gotten out of hand but I fear that there is no going back!

    I let my children celebrate Halloween but I have the rule that once it hits midnight the sweets go in the bin! My son felt that ill that he went to the fridge and grabbed a carrot. But after went back to candy again. But this morning they wanted to eat all of their pumpkin seeds left over from their pumpkin. I think the key part is to teach younger generations about getting the balance right. Easier said than done now!

    Sugar & salt are addictive, consumers are greedy and lazy. Fact. We all live in a fast paced world where survival is based upon a monetary scale and food has to be quick and easy to make. I also think a lot of people are moderately depressed and want to feel something so they reach for the snacks.

    It’s all sad but true.

    • Your right, but it has to start somewhere. I think the key is setting the stage. Children rarely listen to what we say, but they like to do, what we do. There are just a few advertising techniques that these food companies use. I think that educating everyone on these techniques and even ridiculing them for using them may help. I know that the majority of our populations have the capacity to even feed themselves anymore, but no one likes to be laughed at. It has to be super trendy to eat healthy, and when I say healthy I mean sugar and grain free.
