04-29-14 – Tuesday – Vape Day #10

Vape Day #10 and all is well. Almost halfway through the 21 habit changing period and I have nothing negative to report. I noticed this morning that I woke up and didn’t even think about the vape for a little while. When I smoked the first thing I did was light up. There may come a day when I move away from the vaping, but for now I am happy with it and how it is helping kick the smoking habit.

My visit with the doctor yesterday was a positive one. The results of my blood test showed many good numbers, but the one important one was my A1C. It came in at a 6.2. This means that it dropped from 7.1 in just 3 months. I will go back for another blood test is 90 days and I am expecting to see numbers under 6. The scale in the doctors office showed that my weight was 180, on my scale this morning I showed 174.6. I suppose that my uniform, shoes and all I have in my pockets could have weighted 5.4 lbs. so I will go with my morning naked weight. At any rate I am 1.6 lbs. heavier than yesterday.

It’s funny how we start a mission and when we get results of our progress our minds tend to believe that the mission is over. I didn’t want to workout this morning. All I wanted to do was take it easy. So, I went to the doctor’s, I got the results, they were positive, I won! Game over…. NOT. I thought to myself, here we go again, somewhere in the recesses of my mind I am trying to get back to where I was 3 months ago. I have been overweight for so long that my mind accepts that as the norm. Carrying that much weight insures that I there were long periods without food I would have enough fat stored to carry me through that period. Survival mode. I am sure that ancient man suffered that way for millions of years as seasons changed and food was hard to come by in the winter months. But that is not the case anymore. The more I stick with the plan, the more my mind will understand and adjust this type of thinking pattern. This game will go on for the rest of my life and I will strive to adjust this thinking pattern. I expect that in 90 days when I get another checkup I will be able to report that I am another 10 lbs. lighter. So I forced myself up on that treadmill and pushed for 35 minutes with 2 five minute runs. Take that sub conscience! Wait until you see what I have in store for you tomorrow.

My sugar came in at 110 this morning. Yea, another day yesterday of eating some crappy things at the end of the day. A snack bar and mixed nuts with M&M’s in it. And of course I did not eat a salad as I had planned. So this needs attention and I must get back on track. I want to the fasting blood sugar numbers in the morning back in the low 90’s. Rock On!
